You're getting some good ones. I know I have seen this but I can't tell you where. My guess would be in Frontierland in one of the shops.

Tim & Malinda
The Trading Company store in Frontierland.
-- Interesting you both went with Frontierland. This is one of those things everyone has seen but probably only vaguely remembers.

In what part of the resort would you find this trash can? Hint: There is only this one.

Answer:
This trash can is on the front porch of Mickey Mouse's House in Disneyland's Mickey's Toontown.

I have no idea?
-- Good guess...

Then a little later...

Jeff Toro
Normally when I don't know, I don't guess, but the can looks like part of a house or even a picket fence. I was going to say Mickey or Minnie's House in Toontown, but didn't we already do one from Minnie's House?
-- The Minnie Mouse House mystery photo was of her salt and pepper shakers, not a trash can.

Brian Martsolf
Well it's a wild guess, but I'll say it's at IASW. Wherever it is, it certainly needs a refurb!

Jeff Toro
The top of the smokestack on the Mark Twain Riverboat... Or is it the Liberty Belle? I can't remember which one is at Disneyland. It's the big paddle boat that goes around Tom Sawyer Island...

Tim & Malinda
One of the smokestacks of the Mark Twain Riverboat.

Andrea Wells
It's on the Mark Twain. An exhaust pipe.

Richard Blythe
Mark Twain smoke stack. I like when they bend up and down, oh wait, that's from steamboat Willie.

Shannon
On the Mark Twain and I believe that is the smoke stack...

In what part of the resort would you find a trash can that looks like this?

Answer:
This was kind of a trick question, since the last trash can picture I used was from Tom Sawyer Island. This is another trash can design you will only find on Disneyland's Tom Sawyer Island.

An easy one for this Friday the 13th: What is this? Where would you find it?

Answer:
This is the horse drawn hearse in front of Haunted Mansion Holiday, the annual Halloween-to-New Year overlay of the Haunted Mansion in Disneyland's New Orleans Square.

There is a popular urban legend that claims this is the hearse that carried Mormon leader Brigham Young's body to his grave. This is, of course, not true.

A couple more views from previous years (I meant to get a few recent pictures on Thursday, but only realized I didn't do that when I got home):

Way to stay in the mood.
Let me take a wild guess and say its inside Disneyland, turn left into Adventureland, go past the Tiki Room, and Aladdin. Past the Jungle Cruise, past Indiana Jones, and around Tarzan. Keep going straight, into New Orleans Square, past Pirates of the Caribbean, be sure not to get on the train, and go into the gated Haunted Mansion, there you have this horse drawn hearse, but that's only a guess...lol

Shannon
Wow you weren't kidding - I think this is outside the Haunted Mansion. :-)

Teresa Preston
I believe this is the hearse outside the Haunted Mansion.

In what part of the resort would you find a trash can that looks like this?

Answer:
Trash cans like this can be found on Tom Sawyer Island near Fort Wilderness. I have been told that these are the most expensive trash cans to create in the resort.

Rumor says the island will soon be completely rethemed. This would include tearing down Fort Wilderness and abandoning Mark Twain's "Tom Sawyer" character. Instead, it would become Pirate Island, to take advantage of the success of the Pirates of the Caribbean series of movies and ride update. This rumor started with an article by Al Lutz on MiceAge.com, but has yet to be confirmed (or denied) by Disney. We'll find out in time whether this turns out to be true or not.

Edited later to add: Of course, this later proved to be true. The island has been renamed Pirate's Lair on Tom Sawyer Island, but the name Tom Sawyer isn't expected to last much longer by many people. The fort was, indeed, torn down shortly after Pirate's Lair opened.

A look at Fort Wilderness from this week:

The responses I received were:

Shannon
Trash can by the area across from Grizzly River Run in DCA.

Jeff Toro
I love these pics. However I have no clue as to where this one is, so I'll guess Tom Sawyer Island.

Richard Blythe
Pirates Island.
Keep Tom Sawyer Island the same.

Side note, I remember my wife and I looking at the guns exactly one week before they were removed.
-- I still remember playing in Fort Wilderness as a kid, climbing into the turrets in the corners where those guns were.

What are these, and where would you find them?

Answer:
These are the salt and pepper shakers in the kitchen of Minnie Mouse's House in Disneyland's Mickey's Toontown.

After putting this one up, I began to have second thoughts that maybe I should have waited. I knew some people would guess it was Mickey's House, and I don't have any pictures from there to verify if there is a similar set there as well. I will try to get to Disneyland this week to find out, and will update this page when I have had that chance.

Edited 10/12/06: I went to Disneyland today. Mickey's House doesn't even have a kitchen (I guess he eats next door at Minnie's House every day). So, there are no matching salt and pepper shakers in his house. It's only in Minnie's.

A look at Minnie's house from outside:

Trash cans like this can be found in the entrance plaza between the two parks.

The responses I received were:

I have NO idea where this is....But THANK YOU! The next time I visit Disneyland my wife will probably notice in me, an unhealthy attraction to every darn trash can...

Jeff Toro
I will take a stab at this one. I really like the trash can pics, keep them coming. I dont know where these are, but Mr. Cricket asks us to recycle throughout both parks. The second can has a picture of both parks, so I am guessing its someplace they both share, so I will guess the area the trams pick-up and drop-off.
-- Nice deduction.

And a little later...

Jeff Toro
I just looked through my pictures and I noticed that these trash cans are by the bus/hotel shuttle loading and unloading zones, not the tram pick up and drop off I mentioned earlier.
-- They have them there, too? I'll have to check that next time I'm there...
